Fantastic French Food

When I am travelling, I love to sample food from the countries I'm visiting. When I was in France, I fell in love with Creme Brulee. Whenever we are on a cruise, I will get the Creme Brulee at least 2 or 3 nights. I recently found a good recipe, so I wanted to share this with you.

Classic Creme Brulee

Ingredients

6 egg yolks1/2 cup white sugar1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence2-1/2 cups thickened cream2 tablespoons brown sugar

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).

In a mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat egg yolk, 4 tablespoons of white sugar, and vanilla essence until thick and creamy. Stir cream in a medium saucepan over low heat until it almost comes to a boil. Remove from heat and add cream to egg yolk mixture. Beat until combined. Pour cream mixture into the top of a double boiler or a medium bowl set over a medium saucepan of simmering water. Stir until mixture lightly coats the back of a spoon, then pour mixture into a shallow 1 quart heatproof dish. Bake for 30 minutes or until just set. Remove from oven and cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.

Before serving, combine remaining white sugar with the brown sugar in a small bowl. Sift sugar mixture evenly over custard. Cook under a broiler for 2 minutes or until sugar caramelizes. Remove from heat and cool 10 minutes before serving.

If this sounds like too much trouble, or if you just want the original, I would be glad to help you plan a trip to France where you can experience Creme Brulee made by masters. When you are ready to start planning your trip, just give me call or reply to this email.
